PARIS FASHION WEEK SS 2023

Paris Fashion Week usually takes place twice a year; Spring-Summer, Fall-Winter Fashion, as the last of the Big Four Fashion Week. Paris Fashion Week for the spring-summer season takes place in October each year.

The exact dates are set by the French Fashion Federation, and it is held in several regions around Paris.

The highlights of Paris Fashion Week October 2022

  • The first Parisian show for Victoria Beckham.  After participating in both London and New York Fashion Weeks, Victoria Beckham participated in Paris Fashion Week for the first time. She was supported and encouraged by her husband, David Beckham, and her two sons, Romeo and Cruz.

  • Bella Hadid appeared on the catwalk wearing a dress that was sprayed with white paint during the show.
    Designer Manel Torres’ creation of the spray cloth, that was an innovative and out-of-the-ordinary idea in the fashion world.

  • Saint Laurent’s show was a collection of dresses with a hood or a scarf that appeared in the old Hollywood style.

  • Chanel showed in front of a movie screen showing her scenes from “Last Year at Marienbad” (1961). The heroine of the film appeared wearing the Coco Chanel design for 60 years.

The most fashion trends of Paris Week Summer/Spring 2023

Leather uppers

Although the collections are for the spring and summer season, leather was the top material used for the Paris Week designs.
To match the warm weather, leather was used as a small piece on tops in designs such as Givenchy and Mono.

Most of the pieces were low waist

With a variety of pieces of skirts and pants, most of them were with a low waist.

Back in the 18th century, brands like Dior, Lanvin and Cecilie Bahnsen took inspiration from spherical designs as one of the impractical trends of Paris Fashion Week.

Designs vary in lengths on both sides

The lengths of many designs varied in the summer and spring fashion shows in Paris, and it even came to the contrast of the entire design from right to left in the same piece.

Wearing socks in the summer and spring 2023 collection was remarkable, as it suits more the fall and winter. It varies in patterns such as different prints with various fabrics (lace and chiffon), and socks that are embroidered or identical to the print of the same design.

Wear a headscarf or scarf of the same design

Many designs appeared with a hood as a scarf from the same design fabric in different ways and distinguished by many brands such as Saint Laurent, Schiaparelli, Mônot and Off-White.

Purple and mint green are the colors of femininity

The trendy colors in Victoria Beckham’s show and Givenchy’s show were mint green and purple to represent sexiness and femininity.

Extra large details buttons and zippers

The use of some details resulted in a noticeable enlargement in the designs of Louis Vuitton, who used large prominent zippers, large buttons and puffed pockets focusing on these details.

A plenty of designs appeared in rose prints or inspired by them, which is nothing as designers find creative ways to display them in every season.
