7 Trends from Bridal Fashion Week 2023
The coronavirus pandemic has left its impact on our lives including the choice of wedding dress, COVID-19 has made simplicity the general characteristic of post-pandemic brides; focusing more on the concepts of love, marriage and family and avoiding appearances that may be deceptive.
The rapid change in life, the feeling of instability, encouraged many to celebrate their marriage with close people and friends simply. These changes in the fashion world have continuing effects after the pandemic.
The New York Bridal Fashion Week October 2022 shows brought back some of the old wedding dress trends
in a new style. New trends emerge for 2023, whether in the style of the design, the type of fabric, or even the detail of the sleeves.
Here are 7 of the most prominent of these trends:
1. The choice of sheer fabrics expresses Daring and
sharpness
The Morilee Empire bridal collection shown at NYFW was inspired by the nature of New York City itself. A city characterized by boldness, strength and intensity, blended with the romantic and delicate nature of wedding dresses.
The use of sheer fabrics in various wedding dress designs was an expression of this mix of what is daring and sharpness of the designs.
2. Off-shoulder wedding dresses
The designs of the dresses in the shows were off-shoulder. It varies in shape; whether it is inflated, sheer fabric, or embroidered.
We see these designs in many collections of designers like Zuhair Murad, Elie Saab, Reem Acra and Tony Ward.
3. Nylon and leather wedding dresses
We are used to seeing wedding dresses woven from organza, chiffon, crepe, lace and taffeta.
The use of leather and nylon was out of the ordinary in many shows, such as the Nadia Manjarrez collection and the Houghton collection by Katharine Polk.
4. Layers of tulle
Tulle has always dominated wedding dresses, and this season, dresses designed made entirely of tulle or ball gowns dresses in tulle.
5. body-hugging dresses
Brands took a calculated risk. the wedding dresses collections were divided into two categories that included everything elegant and classic and at the same time sexy and smooth, including tight dresses with cuts that hug the body and embrace its curves.
6. Mini-Low dresses
Many girls like to wear short dresses on their wedding day, while they want to keep the classic style of them. To achieve this desire, many brands have adopted the style of short dresses in the front and long back to maintain the beauty of the two designs in one design.
7. Flared Sleeves
It was not new in the fashion world, it may go back to the seventies of last century, but its appearance in the shows of Bridal Fashion Week for the fall of 2023 determined the style that it would be. Here is a design from the fashion house Halfpenny London with wide sleeves with pleats similar to the accordion, which distinguished it, as was the appearance of Clear wide lace and ribbed sleeves.
